Age-ism is indeed a real issue, and biasedly reinforced with the believe that you can't "teach an old dog new tricks". I personally feel that the "trick" is knowing what to learn as a "aging" adult. The older adults are able to make interesting cross-connections faster, so they have a natural advantage when it comes to multi-disciplinary topics.
